To view Sen. Fuller’s committee remarks on SB 111:
SACRAMENTO – Senate Bill 111 is the first piece of legislation signed into law for new Senate Republican Leader Jean Fuller (R-Bakersfield). The bill will provide needed state funding to match the federal dollars secured to modernize schools serving military families throughout California. The federal funds are set aside to repair, upgrade, and replace inadequate public school facilities located near military bases.
“I am grateful for the unanimous legislative support and the governor’s signature of my bill. This is a common-sense measure that will lead to California securing hundreds of millions of federal dollars for some of California’s most in need public schools,” said Sen. Fuller. “California children deserve to learn in a clean and safe environment and when these projects are funded, tens of thousands of students benefit.”
On the Secretary of Defense Priority, California has 11 schools in 6 school districts that qualify for the Public Schools on Military Installations (PSMI) Grant Program. For every $1 that the state provides, the schools will receive $4 from the federal government resulting in $240 million dollars in funding from the federal government.
Here is a list of the 11 California schools on the Secretary of Defense Priority List:
