SACRAMENTO – Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) announced today that he has hired Deborah Gonzalez as Chief of Staff for the Senate Republican Caucus.

“Deborah’s experience and familiarity with our members will be invaluable as we begin the 2015-2106 legislative session,” Senator Huff said.  "When I was Caucus Chair under former Republican Leader Mike Villines, I worked closely with Deborah Gonzalez, as well as recently when she held a similar role with former Assembly Republican Leader Connie Conway.  She is highly respected by legislators and staff on both sides of the aisle, and we are very fortunate to have her on our team.”

Deborah Gonzalez has served in the Assembly Republican Leader’s office since 2010 as policy and fiscal director and then Chief of Staff to former Assembly Republican Leader Connie Conway, R-Tulare.

She previously worked for the California Dental Association as their Chief Strategy Officer after over 20 years of service in both the Senate and Assembly. She served as the Chief Policy and Fiscal Director for then-Assembly Republican Leader Mike Villines, and was a Big 5 staffer.  She has also served as Chief of Staff for former state Senator Chuck Poochigian and as Policy Director for former Speaker of the Assembly Curt Pringle.

Deborah earned her doctorate from McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Claremont McKenna College.
