Senate Republican Leader Huff Issues Statement on Upgrade of California’s Credit Ratings Outlook

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) issued the following statement today following an announcement from Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Rating Services, which shifted California’s credit ratings outlook from stable to positive:

“It’s nice that the outlook has improved, but the report also notes serious questions about whether the enacted budget's spending reductions and other budget assumptions are really going to materialize. It’s not the upgraded rating that California really needs because we still haven’t fixed our structural budget gap. Our rating is still near the bottom when compared to other states. While this is movement in the right direction, Californians should delay celebration until we’re closer to the top than the bottom.”
