Senate Republicans Speak Out Against Burdensome Business-Regulation Measure

Wednesday, June 1, 2011

Several Republican Senators spoke out May 31 against Senate Bill 469 (by Democrat Senator Juan Vargas), which would require municipalities to create economic impact reports before they approve or disapprove the construction or conversion of superstore retailers.

There are more than two million Californians out of work and the economy is still struggling to recover. This is not the time to make it more difficult for businesses to expand and create jobs in California by placing costly, burdensome and unnecessary restrictions on businesses.

SB 469 passed the Senate 21-14 on a party line vote.
