Senator Fuller Recognizes Birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

SACRAMENTO – Senate Republicans recently voted in support of Senate Resolution 53 marking Monday, January 18, 2016, as the 30th anniversary of the national holiday for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The civil rights leader would have turned 87-years-old today.

Senate Republican Leader Jean Fuller (R-Bakersfield) issued the following statement:

“The life and legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. offers such an inspiration to our children, showing how an individual of his ideals and principles, employing the structures, traditions, and laws of our great nation, can make it an even better place to be.

“The teachings of Dr. King have touched our hearts in so many ways. It is a pleasure and a privilege to join my Senate colleagues in honoring Dr. King not just for one day, but every day of the year.”
