Sacramento – Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff issued the following statement regarding yesterday’s election results:
“Yesterday’s elections show that our message of a more responsible and efficient government – that doesn’t stifle innovation and limit freedom – resonated with voters of all backgrounds. The elections also show the strength of Republicans in California with Senator Andy Vidak being re-elected to a full term, and the election of our newest members Pat Bates, Jeff Stone, and Janet Nguyen who is the first Vietnamese-American woman to be elected to the California Legislature. Congratulations to the newest members of the Senate Republican Caucus.
“Voters also reaffirmed their support of the property tax protections provide by Prop. 13. As the leader of the Senate Republican Caucus, yesterday’s elections help keep those protections safe.
“I look forward to working with Governor Brown, Senate President Pro-Tem Kevin DeLeon, Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins and all incoming members to come up with solutions that will boost our economy, make it easier for the nearly 1.5 million unemployed in this state to get a good job, and reform our education system so that every student has the opportunity to learn from good teachers in good schools. Californians expect both parties to work together, and Senate Republicans are ready to get to work.”
