Will Senate Democrats Spend California Back Into Deficits?

Friday, May 23, 2014

SACRAMENTO - Today the Senate Appropriations Committee officially kicked off “spending season” by releasing more than 160 bills that will increase state spending by about $3 billion dollars annually. Despite the Governor’s calls for restraint and the Senate leader’s assertion that they are not ”out of control” Democrats who can’t resist the urge to spend, the majority party appear to have forgotten about the recent economic crisis and historic annual state budget deficits.

“There is one-party rule in California, and if legislative Democrats repeat past mistakes, leading to another round of massive budget deficits, tax increases, and spending cuts it will be disastrous for all Californians. I am extremely concerned about this irresponsible approach to managing the state’s budget, and the impact it will continue to have on our state’s long-term future.” stated Senator Mimi Walters (R-Irvine.)
