WHAT:

Launch of the Sacramento Community Veterans Alliance

Senator Denham is speaking at the first meeting of the Sacramento Community Veterans Alliance (SCVA), a newly formed partnership of civic leaders, veteran service organizations and corporate entities committed to creating a culture to encourage veterans to seek benefits earned through their military service.

SCVA’s mission is to advocate that public and private entities display commemorative flags on Memorial and Veterans Day in appreciation of veterans accomplishments; utilize existing Veterans Day recognition events as opportunities for connecting veterans eligible for VA care to the VA health system and the California Dept of Veteran Affairs; support the development of Veterans Day recognition events among those partners not yet participating; and develop a health initiative for reaching out to veterans who are underserved.
