Senator Cogdill Calls for Investigation into State Lands Commission Charging Rock-Bottom Rental Prices

Senator Dave Cogdill requested that the Joint Legislative Audit Committee authorize the State Auditor to examine whether the State Lands Commission has collected fair market value in rent for publicly-owned lands held in trust. The State Lands Commission, effectively the state’s landlord for publicly-owned properties, may have been shortchanging California taxpayers for decades by charging tenants rock-bottom rent for prime properties, even during the height of the real estate boom. Public Employee Unions Kill Senator Cogdill’s Job-Creating Legislation to Streamline State Building Maintenance Costs

Public employee unions killed common-sense legislation to create more private sector jobs while also maximizing taxpayers’ dollars for state building maintenance costs. Unions successfully convinced several Democrats to vote against Senate Bill 1457, by Senator Dave Cogdill (R-Modesto), which would have saved hundreds of thousands of dollars annually in administrative costs by streamlining state contracting practices for small projects.

Senator Cogdill Receives Prestigious National Public Service Award

Recently, I joined 2009 Senate and Assembly leaders in Boston to receive the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award in recognition of our efforts to address California's budget crisis. The trip had added special meaning because it was my family's first visit to Boston in almost 60 years. When I was an infant, my family lived in Boston during the time John F. Kennedy was a member of Congress.

I am humbled to receive this great recognition, but my driving motivation last year was always to act in the best interest of the hardworking Californians I serve.

Senator Cogdill Urges Transportation Officials to Protect Funding for Project to Ease Traffic Congestion in Northern Stanislaus County
