Senator Tom Harman announced today that the California State Sheriffs’ Association (CSSA) has recognized him as an “Outstanding Legislator for 2008.”
“Senator Harman was a key reason why local law enforcement got a fair shake in last year’s budget negotiations. While times continue to get tougher and tougher, Senator Harman has made it clear that public safety is his top priority. He doesn’t just say it, he works every day for it,” says CSSA President and Placer County Sheriff Edward Bonner.
“Keeping our neighborhoods and streets safe is one of my top priorities,” said Harman. “To be recognized by the California State Sheriffs’ Association - the men and women working every day with other law enforcement professionals to meet California’s public safety needs - is truly a privilege.”
“As a proud member of the California State Sheriffs’ Association, I am pleased that my colleagues see what I see in Senator Harman’s commitment to public safety. He has worked tirelessly to ensure that local law enforcement has the resources to combat the issues that threaten public safety in Orange County and across the state,” said Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens.
The award was given to Senator Harman in acknowledgment of his commitment to public safety and in appreciation of the Senator’s dedication and support for law enforcement. The CSSA represents the 58 elected county sheriffs and thousands of law-abiding citizens throughout the state.
Senator Harman represents the cities of Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Rossmoor, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Irvine, Cypress, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Laguna Beach, Dana Point and portions of Buena Park, Garden Grove, Santa Ana and Westminster.
