Welcome to my State Senate web page. I am honored that the voters of the 37th Senate District have allowed me the opportunity to serve my community in this capacity.
On this site I invite you read more about my background, learn about my bills or any other bills in the legislative process, and find out how to contact any of my offices.
I also invite you to subscribe to my electronic newsletter, The Benoit Bulletin, which provides periodic updates regarding events in the State Capitol and the 37th Senate District.
Again – thanks for visiting! I encourage you to call or contact me with any comments or concerns.

I’m very pleased to report that Governor Schwarzenegger has signed all five of my bills that passed the Legislature in 2009:
Good Samaritan Protection Act (SB 39): Indemnifies registered Disaster Service Volunteers rendering all forms of emergency care from liability of civil damages
Retired Officers Badges (SB 169): Allows local and state law enforcement agencies to issue honorary retiree badges to officers following their dedicated service to the public
Escrow Industry Fee Limits (SB 204): Places limits on fees, levied against licensed escrow agents and businesses by the Department of Corporations, in order to create a more favorable business environment for California’s escrow industry
Taxpayer Protection (SB 321): Increases the integrity and transparency of local benefit assessment elections
Probation Reform (SB 431): Improves probation oversight and facilitates community reintegration by establishing that an adult probationer’s county of residence will be responsible for the terms of that individual’s probation.

The Governor has launched an initiative aimed at encouraging all Californians to report government waste anonymously through a new website called Waste Watchers. I am thrilled to see the Governor renew this drive to curb waste in government.
To anonymously report waste and abuse of taxpayer dollars, please visit the Waste Watchers website.
