Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) issued the following statement after he joined with Governor Brown and other legislative leaders for the signing of budget trailer bills AB 97 and SB 91, which implement the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF).
“Republicans always have been and will continue to be committed to real education reform. Whether you’re from Beverly Hills or Compton, we believe all California students should receive a top-notch education. The LCFF is a big step in the right direction which is why all Senate Republicans supported it.
But let’s not stop here. There is more work to be done. We still need critical reforms to empower parents and provide students with more public school options. Our school leaders and teachers are still hampered by bureaucracy. This is why local school boards should be empowered to make the rules, not Sacramento.”
